  Angie Moreschi

Angie is a national award winning anchor, producer, reporter and host.  Her powerful stories have changed laws, led to criminal charges, closed bad businesses and helped lead to the restructuring of an entire government agency.  Her work has been recognized with five national awards, eight EMMY’s and dozens of regional and local awards for excellence in journalism.

Angie hosts and reports for the Emmy award winning, medical magazine program “Smart Health” on WEDU TV, the PBS station in Tampa and is a freelance anchor for Bay News 9.  She is also the Communications Director and Investigative Producer for the James Hoyer Law Firm and serves as Editor for ConsumerWarningNetwork.com, a consumer information website she launched at the firm.

As a former anchor at WFTS, the ABC affiliate in Tampa, for 7 years, Angie is well known in the Bay area for her versatile personality.  She anchored the afternoon newscast, and then moved to the morning show after having her children.  Her stories ranged from covering breaking news to features like underwater childbirth to award winning investigations. Angie also served as the station’s medical reporter for several years and produced a popular segment called “The ABC’s of Parenting,” in addition to co-hosting the annual Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon.

In 2006, Angie produced a 12 minute video for the national non-profit organization Enable America, which is dedicated to promoting the hiring of people with disabilities.  The video was played at forums around the country and distributed to members of Congress.

Prior to returning to Tampa in 2005, Angie worked at WTHR in Indianapolis as their Chief Investigative Reporter.  While there, her 18-month investigation exposed serious problems at Indiana’s Child Protective Services.  Her reports led to rare criminal charges against a caseworker, an overhaul of the agency and a new open records law which now helps to protect children and prevent the cover up of wrongdoing.

These stories won a series of national, regional and local awards, including a National Headliner for Outstanding Public Service, a Casey medal for meritorious journalism from the Casey Journalism Center for Families and Children, and the Medal of Freedom from the Investigative Reporters and Editors, its highest honor.

While in Tampa, Angie also conducted several investigations.  In one EMMY award winning report called “A Dying Shame” she exposed deplorable practices at a Palmetto crematory.  The manager mixed up the remains of the deceased, dumped ashes in the parking lot instead of scattering them at sea, and even gave grieving parents a scoop of someone else’s ashes, instead of their own child’s remains.  The facility ultimately closed after her reports.

She also exposed the deadly consequences of cost saving measures being imposed by an HMO on doctors.   Two patients profiled in her story died because their HMO refused to pay for critical services.

As a reporter at WISN in Milwaukee, Angie uncovered the case of a priest sexually abusing children over a period of more than 20 years.  The priest admitted to her on camera what he had done and apologized.  He was arrested and convicted.  After the story aired, the prosecutor’s office opened a victim’s hotline which brought forth dozens of additional victims molested over the years.

Angie has also covered dozens of trials during the past two decades.  She was one of a select group of reporters chosen to sit in the courtroom during the trial of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.

She is a graduate of Syracuse University, where she studied broadcast journalism and political science.  She is married to Chris Jadick, VP of Communications and Strategy at Salem Enterprise Solutions, and has two daughters.
